Stencil Portrait

Stencil Project

For this post please personally reflect on the experience as well as any lessons learned by completing this project. Explain your process (from design phase to create phase) for completing the project and how it was successful in your eyes.

I really enjoyed this project because creating it was really fun. This was one of those projects where it was more about the journey than the destination. This taught me more about spray painting and painting. As well as more about photoshop. It was also very collaborative, we carved together and spray-painted together. Kelsie and I also got to go "dumpster diving" for cardboard! But, the picture I ended up putting onto the cardboard was a different one from the photo I started out with. I was originally going to spray-paint a picture of my mom, but, Kelsie and I decided to take a photo of us together! We were able to work closely because of the similarities of our values, if one made a mistake with the carving we could warn the other. It was also interesting how we did the spray-painting. I chose to do warmer, brighter colors (pink and yellow) and she chose cooler colors and more shades (blue, white, etc.). Together, these final projects really complement each other. This project was great for improving all aspects of my artistic side. I was able to become better with the materials we used, and closer to my classmates while I helped them, and they helped me.

  1. I really like what you said about it was more about the journey than the end result. Thank you for that. You are so right!
